Jason W. Sickler, Ph.D. (MIT '08)

Founder & President

Dr. Sickler is an engineer and scientist with over 20 years of experience in optics and photonics. He is also an entrepreneur with over 17 years of experience building and leading technical start-ups. A committed "doer" who loves new challenges, he has a proven track record of deep, diverse abilities. His areas of expertise include lasers, optics, fiber optics, nonlinear optics, opto-electronics, photonics, semiconductor devices & processes, physics, modeling & simulation, and software. He has 28 publications and 26 patents or patents pending.  His start-up experience spans four companies, three of which he co-founded, through all phases from founding to post-Series D funding, creating strengths in oral & written communication, building and leading teams, strategy, grants, intellectual property, program management, and manufacturing.

Peter Palomaki, Ph.D. (RPI '12)

Chief Scientist

Dr. Palomaki is a hands-on scientist with deep expertise in optical materials and systems, including light-emitting materials, spectral conversion, and thin films. His work spans the design, synthesis, characterization, and commercial implementation of materials that manipulate light, including quantum dots, phosphors, dyes, nanomaterials, and optical coatings. He is known for bridging the gap between scientific innovation and real-world application, bringing clear communication and direction to complex technical challenges. He has a strong track record of leading R&D efforts that drive novel optical technologies from concept to implementation, and ultimately commercial success.
